January 2012

Welcome to the new year! Andy Adams has overhauled his Flakphoto website, kicking off with a feature on Hijacked II , which leads with my plate of beans photograph.

November 2011

The excellent series of memento mori exhibitions DEATH BE KIND, is about to have its last opening. I was lucky enough to show some works from my archive there, earlier this year. The final exhibition, "The rest is silence", launches at 6pm November 8th and one of my pieces will be in the mix. At the same time, the new online photography magazine Excerpt, which along with Lou Hubbard I have been a supporter of, is launching. 6pm at 20 Meyers Place.

Lastly, Oliver Schneider at Actual Color May Vary has posted a great write up on my Unknown Land series.

October 2011

Some of the photographs from Unknown Land have been featured in the new Thames & Hudson book, Characters by Stephen Banham , which explores Melbourne's culture through its rich typography.

I have also created a new section on this site, Wunderkammer, which I will be adding to over the coming months.

September 2011

A large selection of work from Unknown Land is featured in the inagural issue of online publication, Timemachine. The themed magazine features work from Australian and international photographers. The first edition Home,includes: Rob Hornstra, Sohrab Hura,
Ingvar Kenne, Katrin Koenning, Mary Beth Meehan, Graham Miller, me and Zoe Strauss.

I'm very happy to announce that the State Library of Victoria has purchased a selection of prints from Unknown Land and other works for their collection.


July 2011

I am part of the exhibition The Gravity of the Situation, at the Monash University Art & Design Faculty Gallery. The show includes the work of fellow photographers Kristian Haggblom, Siri Hayes and Georgia Metaxas amongst others, and has been organised to raise funds for post disaster reconstruction initiatives in Japan. I will be in Perth for the launch of Hijacked II , at the John Curtin Gallery and will be giving
a talk at the gallery on Friday 22nd July @ 12.30pm.

15th May 2011

I will be part of a panel discussion at Printed & Bound, "An afternoon exploring small publishing and bookmaking for artists and photographers" at the Monash Gallery of Art on 29th May at 2pm.

3 works from Unknown Land are on display at the Samstag Museum in Adelaide as part of Hijacked II till 1st July.

Bad Driving is now available for purchase directly from the publishers Erm Books and will be available in bookshops shortly.


6th May 2011

Bad Driving (my first Australian release!) will be launched at Metropolis Bookshop in Melbourne between 6-8pm on Tuesday 10th May. The book which is a documentation of minor car accidents, has been published by the lovely people at Erm Books who have just opened a new independent press bookstore in the Thornbury.... Perimeter Books.

The latest Big City Press book, Hijacked II Australia and Germany edited by Marcus Schaden, Ute Noll and Mark McPherson and featuring photographers such as Jens Liebchen, Oliver Sieber, Narelle Autio, Polixeni Papapetrou and myself is launching on June 10th at the Australian Centre for Photography in Sydney.

I'll be giving a talk at the City Gallery on Saturday 23rd at 12.00pm as part of the Record and Analysis exhibition (110 Swanston Street).

9th November 2009

Big month! Firstly, I've created a temporary archive at the City Gallery here in Melbourne, it's
called Record and Analysis and features Engineering photographs from the 1940's-80's held in the city's heritage collection, and works from my own archive. It opens this Wednesday 6-7.30pm and runs till Jan 30th.

Secondly, Paris based publishers LozenUP have just released a limited edition publication of my "100 Flowers" series. Produced during a residency in Beijing at the Redgate Gallery in 2008. For more information please go to the website
